Dumbbell bent over row - one exercise a day by Kathryn Alexander

Hey there! It’s a new day! Your exercise for today is the dumbbell row. 10 reps.

This is the first exercise we’ll do with dumbbells this month. If you don’t have dumbbells, you can hold anything: soup cans, books, bookends. If you can’t find anything, do it without weights and focus on learning what’s happening in your back through this movement.

  • First, stand tall, and straighten your back: no arch or bend. You’ll keep this neutral position on the whole time.
  • Shift your hips back with your knees slightly bent, to allow your back to stay straight.
  • Let the dumbbells move toward the ground, letting your shoulders stretch downward.
  • Now pull your shoulders back, squeezing your shoulder blades toward your spine, then bend the elbows.
  • Think about this squeeze! Pay attention to your back.
  • Now, extend the elbows, then let your shoulders stretch toward the ground again.

You can do it! Message me if you have questions!
